This project was expertly outfitted with a sleek 3M matte black wrap complemented by matching motor mohawk accents. This exceptional vessel received comprehensive protection with Starke Yacht Care Repel Pro and Liquid Thor, ensuring that the wrap, gelcoat, electronics, metal surfaces, upholstery, and engines remain in pristine condition.
The culmination of our innovative detailing processes has equipped this beautiful craft to take on the Hawaiian seas as it embarks on a mission of Native Hawaiian Intelligence Research. After having his 42' Yellowfin ceramic coated by another company, the owner started noticing issues with the finish only six months later. The shine had faded unevenly, and the surface no longer felt smooth — clear signs that something wasn’t right. Frustrated with the results, he reached out to Yellowfin Yachts for advice, and they referred him to our team at Detail M.D. to take a closer look.
When we arrived to assess the boat, it became immediately clear that the original installer had not properly leveled the ceramic coating during application. This caused an inconsistent surface texture and compromised the overall protection. After discussing the findings, Jim decided to have us completely remove the failed coating and restore the boat the right way. Unfortunately, due to the severity of the improper application, roughly 50% of the boat had to be sanded down in order to remove the old ceramic and prep the surface correctly before reapplying.
Once the surfaces were properly corrected, we laid down a fresh, professional-grade marine ceramic coating, bringing the deep gloss and long-term protection that the boat should have had from the start. Jim was thrilled with the outcome — the finish was now smoother, brighter, and truly worthy of the Yellowfin name.
Since then, Jim has continued trusting us with his family’s vehicles and vessels. We’ve since ceramic coated his son’s truck and their 24' Yellowfin Bay Boat, ensuring each one received the same level of care and attention to detail.
